Panama Bird Festival 2022 will take place 20 - 23 October
The Alada Foundation will hold the Panama Bird Festival from October 20 to 23, 2022. This festival aims to create new bird-loving audiences, promote environmental values, duties and rights, good practices in the bird tourism business and popularize bird watching as hobby and participatory science from the family, school and communities.
Every day of the festival, prior registration is offered for bird watching tours with famous specialized local guides; in iconic spots such as the Metropolitan Park, the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center, Parque Soberanía (pipeline) or Cerro Ancón.
Academic training will take place on October 20 from 1:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and October 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the following places:
National Library, multipurpose room with conferences and talks on ornithological research in the field, monitoring, use of citizen science Apps, use of bird cams, experiences in school programs, and empowerment of communities around birds and conservation. “Master Class”, on photography techniques with Jorge Moisés Herrera and painting with Leticia Almanza.

Jennifer Ackerman, author of 4 books on the behavior of birds that have been bestsellers, including "The Ingenuity of the Birds" that includes the award of the photography contest.
Dr. Josep del Hoyo, ornithologist, iconic and prolific birdwatcher who has observed thousands of species and is the author of the book “All the Birds of the World”.
On the weekend, Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd from 11:00 am and 6:00 pm, the festival arrives at Albrook Mall (corridor of the giraffe- solidarity showcase of birdwatching services) and the Andrés Bello park with promotion of products, services and cultural activities, a winged concert and a market for creative industries around birds. Free entry.
On Saturday the 22nd at 3:00 pm, the Alada Foundation launches the “Friendly Community with Birds and Trees” recognition program, granting the first distinction and unveiling of a sign alluding to the neighborhood of El Cangrejo, its community and its authorities.
A walk and exhibition of recycled art will follow on the way to the park and at 4:00 pm the concert with La Red de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles and special guest Alfredo Hidrovo.

It may have taken a long while, but the Central American gem of Panama has finally lifted all of its Covid travel restrictions, which kept thousands of travelers from visiting during the pandemic. Essentially, they have returned their pre-2020 entry guidelines, allowing for the resumption of normal tourism. As of this week, everyone is welcome, vaccinated or not.

DURING YOUR VISIT
It is not necessary to wear masks outdoors or indoors. The use of a mask is only mandatory in:
- Public transport
- People working or handling food
- Public or private health facilities
We encourage all travelers to respect the social distance of 2 meters.
Business meetings are admitted with 100% capacity, if all participants have their vaccination card complete.

- We encourage all travelers to check travel restrictions of your destination country and airport.
- COVID-19 testing is available for Departing Passengers from Tocumen International Airport.
- The center is open from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
- The cost of the COVID-19 rapid test is $50.00 USD and the result takes around 40 minutes.
- The service is first come, first serve, so we encourage all passengers that want to get tested to arrive with enough time before their flight.
