Panama improves its tourism offer

More companies are interested in opening hostels and hotels in Panama and the Panama Tourism Authority Department of Tourist Enterprises has registered 28 hostels and hotels in Chiriqui, 25 in Bocas del Toro, 14 in Cocle and 12 in the province of Panama.

Currently five hotels have started operations in Bocas del Toro, three in Isla Colon, one in Chiriqui Grande and one on Isla Carenero. Soraya Alderete, ATP Quality and Tourist Culture Department chief pointed out that Bocas del Toro is a paradise of spectacular landscapes, a mixture of black and indigenous culture, beaches with crystal clear water, where you can practice aquatic sports and restaurants offer excellent gastronomy.

She explained that Bocas del Toro is particularly interesting for the European and North American tourists and it will be in the mind of Chinese visitors. «One of Panama’s great strengths is its connectivity and geographical position, which allows the tourist who stays in Panama City explore the rest of the country.

Alderete added that Chiriqui is also becoming a good tourist destination with its beautiful beaches, landscapes, climate, bird watching, natural parks, scuba diving and fishing among other attractions.

According to ATP figures, since 2017 there has been growth in the lodging services (hostels, hotels, camping and small hotels) with 58 of them opening in the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui, Herrera, Veraguas, Cocle, Panama and West Panama.

Up to 2017 there were 908 lodging establishments in the country and that number will continue to increase in the next few years.

There has also been an increment in the number of travel agencies that create, sell and organize tourist packages and this year 39 new ones have started operations.

The ATP has continued with tourist guide training. Currently there are 16 general tourist guides, some of them interested in whale watching, bird watching and extreme tourism among others. Last year 211 tourist guides were certified and the Program of Tourist Guides Specialized in Protected Areas has 46 graduates so far. By The Visitor Panama

Panama is quickly becoming a popular destination for holding conventions and international events. A modern infrastructure, which is often cited as the best in the region, direct flights to more than 50 cities in the region and 13 in the U.S, world-class attractions nearby, meeting facilities, hotels, excellent restaurants, a globalized populace, and a vibrant metropolis with more than 100 banks and exciting nightlife, all make Panama the perfect place to host first-class events.

No matter what you’re looking for…in terms of climate, budget, convenience, or anything else… Panama is likely to check all the boxes.

Panama is located at the center of Latin America, at the very point where Central and South America meet. It is home to one of the world’s fastest growing economies, which is built largely on the country being a primary provider of financial, logistic and commercial services to all the nations of the region. Its central role in Latin America is vested in its being a business friendly nation, and that is complemented by its attractive and comfortable lifestyle.

Panama is a captivating mix of the historical and the modern, the natural and the manmade, the indigenous cultures and the international.

Since Panama is historically a crossroads, people and cultures from all over the world meet and mix here, resulting in friendly atmosphere, fantastic restaurants, galleries and cultural events showcasing the world’s best art, cuisine, and more. Panama has none of the disastrous hurricanes and earthquakes that plague its Central American neighbors.
