Panama to Invest 2.2 Million for 2019 Carnival
The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) reported that it will invest 2.2 mill for next year’s Carnival festivities, with 1.5 million to be invested in Panama City. The remaining 700,000 dollars will be for the rest of the country’s provinces. Administrator of Tourism, Gustavo Him, explained «Carnival in Panama: a country in party 2019» will grace the country from March 1 to 5, 2019.
Panama improves its tourism offer
More companies are interested in opening hostels and hotels in Panama and the Panama Tourism Authority Department of Tourist Enterprises has registered 28 hostels and hotels in Chiriqui, 25 in Bocas del Toro, 14 in Cocle and 12 in the province of Panama.
Currently five hotels have started operations in Bocas del Toro, three in Isla Colon, one in Chiriqui Grande and one on Isla Carenero. Soraya Alderete, ATP Quality and Tourist Culture Department chief pointed out that Bocas del Toro is a paradise of spectacular landscapes, a mixture of black and indigenous culture, beaches with crystal clear water, where you can practice aquatic sports and restaurants offer excellent gastronomy.
United Airlines expands partnership with Copa and Avianca
United Airlines today announced it has reached an agreement with Compañía Panameña de Aviación S.A. (Copa), Aerovías del Continente Americano S. A. (Avianca) and many of Avianca’s affiliates, for a joint business agreement (JBA) that, pending government approval, is expected to provide substantial benefits for customers, communities and the marketplace for air travel between the United States and 19 countries in Central and South America.

Panamanian passenger traffic grows 5.1% in the first semester of 2018
Tocumen International Airport, the main airport in Panama, received 7,933,597 passengers in the first half of this year, 5.1 percent more than in the same period of 2017, the terminal administration reported today. According to the data of the Vice Presidency of Planning and Strategy of Tocumen, 5,797,848 million travelers made a stopover, 9.3 percent more than in the first semester of 2017.

Panama Canal adds new milestone with the passage of a luxury megacourse
The cruise Norwegian Bliss, with a capacity for 5,000 passengers, crossed the expansion of the Panama Canal on Monday and marked a new milestone for the interoceanic route, since it is the largest ship of this type that has traveled through its waters in its history. The Norwegian Bliss is «the largest passenger ship that has traveled the interoceanic way. Panama Canal rules out another extension until 2025 due to lack of water
The Panama Canal ruled out the possibility of building a fourth set of locks at least until 2025 today because it has not yet found a new water source, said the water route administrator, Jorge Luis Quijano. «I do not see it being done before 2025 because first we have to be sure that we have water and that the demand of it is correct. So far there has been no decision, we have simply taken the decision to study other sources of water and also study the technical aspects,» he said.
School ships from 8 countries will arrive in Panama at a continental boat parade
School ships from eight countries with around 2,000 cadets will arrive in Panama next July as part of the Velas Latinoamérica 2018 boat parade, an event held to celebrate its third edition this year and that includes the Central American country for the first time. The representative of Panama at the event, Orley Jiménez, told today Acan-Efe that the school ships from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, will be in the country from July 7 to 10.

Panama’s Copa Plans November Move To New Tocumen Terminal
Copa Airlines expects to start service out of Panama City Tocumen International Airport’s new Terminal 2 (T2) in November and be «fully operational» in the new facility by mid-2019, the airline’s top executive said. «It seems like a date that we can trust to a high degree is to start partial operations in the new airport by the end of this year,» CEO Pedro Heilbron said on a recent analyst call.
